I'm Simon Mosse - a Bristol-based Shopify expert and consultant with over fifteen years of experience building e-commerce for brands that care about doing things properly.
I co-founded Thought & Mortar, a Shopify agency in Bristol, where I spent years working with ambitious independent and heritage brands on genuinely complex e-commerce problems. Migrations from ageing platforms, internationalisation, B2B and B2C experiences on a single store, bespoke features that the platform doesn't offer out of the box - that's the kind of work I've always been drawn to.
The brands I've worked with tend to share a few things: strong identities, high expectations, and audiences who notice the difference between something built well and something built quickly. David Austin Roses, Tanners Wine Merchants, Hilton Herbs, Lillicoco - they're all businesses where the detail matters, and where getting e-commerce right has a real impact on how the brand is perceived.
Now I work independently, clients get direct access to someone who actually knows the platform inside out with the experience to match. I like being close to the work, and enjoy both thinking strategically on larger more complex projects, as well as fully building small start up stores from start to finish.
